No word yet on my broken computer, but thanks to an Internet cafe and a CompactFlash reader that I just bought, I can now post a couple of the digital pictures that I took of last night’s Bronx fireworks show from our Manhattan roof seven miles away. Check ‘em out!
Also, although I still don’t have access to the bulk of my pictures from Becky, Shannon, and Adrienne’s recent visit to the city (the pics are on my laptop’s hard drive, which is at a repair shop in Queens), I can now show you a few photos from the tail end of the weekend:

Becky and Shannon share a smile near Fort Tryon Park on Monday.

Shannon, Adrienne and I pose for a picture in the apartment Monday morning.

Becky and Shannon drive away, waving their rainbow flags from the gay pride parade.
That’s it for now. More pictures coming soon, I hope!
I had a great weekend in the city with Becky, Shannon and Adrienne. (Vicki’s plans changed at the last minute, so she, unfortunately, couldn’t join us.) We did a remarkable amount in three days: visited Times Square, Battery Park, Wall Street, Ground Zero, Little Italy, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, F.A.O. Schwartz, Central Park, and more; saw the musical I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change; had a fantastic time with several hundred thousand of our closest friends at the gay-pride parade; ate at several wonderful restaurants, including the famous Carnegie Deli and a lovely Restaurant Row establishment called Marlowe’s (with a lovely waitress called Kate); and, back at the apartment, finished a bottle of Malibu rum and nearly finished bottles of Absolut vodka and peach schnapps. A good time was had by all (especially Shannon, who was practically bouncing up and down all weekend, so excited was she to be visiting New York for the first time).
Unfortunately, I can’t post any of my digital pictures yet, because they’re stored on the hard drive of my temperamental laptop, which has crashed again and thus rendered the photos inaccessible for the moment. (I just took the computer back to the repair shop in Queens that “fixed” it less than two weeks ago, so we shall see where that leads.) I have some great photos, though, so I’ll post them as soon as I can.
I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of Becky and Shannon. I think Becky, in classic Becky fashion, may have forgotten her cell phone in Buffalo, as I haven’t heard from her and haven’t been able to reach her on the road. Oh, well. They should be here soon. The plan is to buy half-price TKTS tickets for a Broadway show tonight and have dinner in Times Square before the show. Shannon, who has never been to New York City before, is very excited. Tomorrow we’ll do a bunch of touristy stuff, and then on Sunday, we’ll watch the gay-pride parade — which should be even, uh, gayer than usual, thanks to the sodomy ruling. (Although, last time I checked, sodomy was only legal in private… I wonder if that will be tested on Fifth Avenue this weekend…)
Speaking of which, I don’t think the Supreme Court has yet legalized any additional sex acts. Bummer, eh, Andrew? I guess I’ll have to stick the classics. (Avert your eyes, young BrendanLoy.com readers!) Heh.
You’ve met Toby; now meet Ugmo, Becky’s friend Shannon’s tiny kitten, born on May 14, 2003, and photographed on her one-month birthday:
(Well, you’re not really meeting her for the first time. Ugmo was already featured in Moblog posts here and here.)
Anyway, more Ugmo photos can be found here!

For some reason, the photo-post function wasn’t working yesterday, but here now is a photo of Becky’s friend Shannon’s tiny, cute kitten, Ugmo, whose meow can be heard in the audio post below.

Okay, time for a random update on events in my life: I’m in Buffalo (well, Amherst, really) visiting Becky at the moment, and thanks to a kind suggestion from Becky’s mom that I stay a bit longer than originally planned, I’m going to be here through the 4th of July. Then it’s back east, to New York City for a Great Big Sea concert on the 5th, and then back to Connecticut.
I’m having a great time here, chilling with Becky, her parents, her friends, and her cute kitten, Toby. Here are a couple of images from the last few days. More coming soon!

Becky and I take a break from mini golf to pose for a photo.

Becky, me and Kristy, again at the mini-golf course.

Shannon working at the beef jerky free-samples table at Sam’s Club. (Love that jerky!)

Awwww… Toby is so cute!!! (Check out the Toby page!)
