Though I don’t always agree with him, he is consistently one of the best opinion writers for the New York Times, and this week’s column certainly does not disappoint. If you have a moment, I’d suggest giving it a read.

At least in the DC metro area the [redacted] at ABC just pulled the plug on the USC game to give us some crap between Iowa and Wisconsin…

It would seem that not being able to find their country on a map is only the tip of the iceberg for “US Americans…” No, really! If people are this daft on the first amendment, I’d imagine they wouldn’t know the ninth if it smacked them in the face.

Laughing too hard to make a good joke on this one. Though I suppose it really could have been quite a more serious matter.

Recognizing the highly mercurial nature of my posting on this site, just a short note. From this Sunday’s New York Times Magazine section–an article I think is worth reading. It’s on poltics, and I think summarizing would do it a disservice, but I think it possess a certain amount of wisdom for those arguing and thinking on all sides of current political debates.

Okay, can we at least agree that these Newsweek poll results are at least a cause for concern (if not, necessarily, signifying that us Americans are dumb as dirt, per se)? I mean honestly, only 10% know who the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court is (note, Newsweek does not know what his title is either)… rather scary.

More than half of all Republicans Americans self identify that they are, indeed, dumb as dirt.
Just a question, but knowing what you know now, how would you vote on the floor of the Senate on a resolution authorizing the invasion of Iraq? That is to say if you could have a complete do over on the subject based on the information you have now would you pick a different path? Various debates and arguments in the press, online etc. have, for some reason, made me curious as to how people would answer such a question.
