Paging William Shatner…

Fun with Scrabulous:

Oh, come on, that should totally be a word. :)

Except Khan is spelled with an H.

  2. Mike says:

Ooh, now I know you play Scrabulous. You can ask David about the fun of playing against me…

  3. Brendan Loy says:

Except Khan is spelled with an H.

True. It also isn’t spelled with three A’s. :)

Anyway, I didn’t include the “H” because: 1) it’s not necessary to the joke, and 2) I didn’t have an “H.” Not necessarily in that order. :)

  4. Leanna Loomer says:

    You were missing an A.

  5. JD says:

The H is essential. Evidence: http://www.khaaan.com.

  6. Alasdair says:

Yup – the H is essential … you khannot spell it correctly without it !

  7. Alasdair says:

Or should that be khorrekhtly ???

  8. Leanna Loomer says:

    Only in Yiddish, Alasdair.

  9. Leanna Loomer says:

    To wit:

    Sholem Alekhem!

  10. Brendan Loy says:

    Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra.

  11. Alasdair says:

Leanna – I thought it was/is “Sholem Aleikhem”

    {looking around for my copy of Leo Rosten’s “Joys of Yiddish”}

want to get an Irish Trojan Scrabulous team together? Could be fun…

  13. #2 says:

I think the Next Generation obsecure reference [Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra] may qualify for Super-Doork status..

  14. Brendan Loy says:

I earned that status long, long ago, #2. :)

  15. Gardner says:

If there is an Irish Trojan Scabulous Team, I’m in.

  16. josh says:

I’m in, too. Let me know.

Also, not only did I earn my Super-Dork mantle years ago (heck, Brendan and I had earned ours separately before we even met in 9th grade), but I leave you with this, which paints a better picture of how I remember Brendan from high school (for no other reason than he must have repeated it 1,267,321 times at least):

The line must be drawn here. This far, no further. (for proper emphasis, must be delivered with the Brendan-trying-to-do-Picard-esque voice…)

  17. Brendan Loy says:

You can have Scrabulous teams? How does that work?

  18. Anonymous says:

    Khannnnnnnnnn!!!!

I will use up all the N’s

  19. Leanna Loomer says:

    Alaisdair,

Yiddish is the most variable language I know, and even transliterated spelling could trigger a month-long debate on the Yiddish Forum.

  20. Leanna Loomer says:

    P.S. Note the Kh.

  21. Brendan Loy says:

    Note the Kh.

Okay, fine. Darmokh and Jalad at Tanagra. Happy now?

    :P

Darmok(h) and Jalard on the ocean…
