If NYC wasn’t such a huge media center, would Time and all these other media speculators really believe that anyone outside of the Big Apple gives a rip about Nanny Bloomberg?

  2. Mad Max, Esquire says:

I have to agree with Andrew. I don’t really understand the fascination with Bloomberg. The media buzz around him reminds me of the hype behind Fred Thompson and Wesley Clark before they jumped in. Should he ever announce, his stock would plummet quickly.

I heartily second Andrew’s comment. Something about NYC’ers, mostly Manhattanites and the news media, makes them think that the country revolves around NYC. News flash… *most* people in this country barely know who the hell Bloomberg is. And I say this as someone who interned for Bloomberg and *really* likes the guy.

Not often i agree with Andrew. This is one of those times. New York is not as important as it thinks it is.

I’m taking a class on political comedy writing and on Thursday when I pulled up Google News to see what the big stories were and grab a couple of articles to start this week’s homework, Bloomberg’s op ed was right at the top of the page. I wrote it up and my teacher said it was an insignificant story. Oops.
