Time for all those arm-chair psychologists on TV and in print who were saying Heath Ledger couldn’t deal with the emotions he unleashed because he played The Joker to eat crow. What a farce all these wannabe Dr. Phils are.
As for Ledger, he did what thousands of Americans do every year. He took a series of prescription drugs that - apparently unknown to him - turned into a deadly cocktail in his system. A sad ending for a great actor.
I had a relative go into liver failure because she was taking Tylenol and other cold medications with Tylenol in it. Luckily she made it through okay, but it demonstrated to me how little it takes to overdose on medications that are readily available to the public.
Me thinks you are talking out of your ass like usual Marty. You expect us to take you seriously over people who actually have ALL the facts of the situation? Yeah right.
If you can accidentally shoot yourself in the head, then you can accidentally kill yourself by taking so many prescription drugs that you die. I am as sure that he didn’t want to kill himself, as I am sure he didn’t need to take all those prescription drugs. Tough.

Actually, yes. The Cultural Editor for CBS Sunday Morning did a commentary on Heath Ledger not being able to keep his emotions in check after playing The Joker because he didn’t take method acting. I shit you not.

I would call that hubris (at the least). Those are powerful drugs, and he was taking them all, and all together, without medical supervision? I would be afraid to take any one of them alone without the advice of an M.D. or registered pharmacist.
Why the umbrage? These are some very serious prescription drugs he was taking, which presumably are not to be taken together. There’s a very good chance he was, in fact, trying to get high, and at the very least being very irresponsible with what he was putting into his body. Marty did state it was his opinion.

Accidental?
I don’t think all those pills accidentally went into his mouth.

The overdose was accidental.

The six drugs found in his system were oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine.
Me thinks he was trying to get high.

David,
You are a douchebag about 99% of the time. Doesn’t it get tiring?’
How am I talking out of my ass? Those are the drugs they found in his body. It’s not like I made it up.

Did anyone reputable actually say that?

Does the Cultural Editor normally pose as an arm-chair psychologist? And moreover, don’t licensed psychologist’s use armchairs?
