My father made sure all the (6) kids knew how to change a tire before we were ever permitted to drive the family car.
My uncle lovingly gave me a refresher course a number of years later.
I have changed tires in the past (interestingly on behalf of other folks, not myself), but my first option will always be to employ roadside assistance services if at all possible.
