Almost a Cat. 5
Posted by on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 11:00 am

At 11am, NHC says microwave imagery shows a single eyewall, better organization. Dean may already be a Category 5, but NHC is holding off till next recon flight confirms it. … I'm at a rest stop
east of Nashville. Hence the photo.

I’m going to assume you’re outside of Carthage, which would be the traditional Gore “home” area. Really, their true home was in a hotel penthouse in D.C. for most all of the year.

Anyway, what’s amatta with you that you’re stopping at a rest stop that close to Nashville? Just couldn’t hold it for another half-hour?

  2. Brendan Loy Says:

I stopped because I wanted to check the 11am advisory on Dean. Duh. ;)

Well, that, and my digital camera’s batteries had died (which I learned while trying to take a picture of the highway while driving… hey, there was no traffic around me!), so I wanted to stop and change the batteries. Hey, you never know what might happen! What if the Rapture happens while I’m driving into Nashville, and my camera’s batteries are dead? I wouldn’t be able to get photos of the Christian Right Ascending to Heaven! :)

P.S. This post has been up for an hour-and-a-half — a post about a hurricane with a picture containing the words “Albert Gore” — and NO ONE has made a snarky global warming reference yet?? I’m disappointed in the Loy-o-sphere! :)

  4. Fax Paladin Says:

Actually, my thought was more along “like father, like son” lines — apparently Daddy Gore claimed to invent the interstate system…

Well since I’m ignorant of the Definition I dunno if I know How to be Snarky :> but I’ll weigh in for the Loy-o-sphere Elder Generation ;], as follows.

Albert Gore Sr. was a good man IMO. After serving three Senate terms he got whupped in 1970 (by Repub Congressman Bill Brock, mightily assisted by that Great American, VP Spiro T. Agnew ;) ~ largely because Gore was seen (correctly) as being Soft on Civil Rights, and was a critic of the Vietnam war. Gutsy guy. / I remember watching the returns & seeing Gore’s concession on TV that November night.
