I certainly understand that there are tons of fanboys and fangirls for all kinds of pop culture things. The people that are the uber-hardcore devotees that wind up waiting in line for a week to see the show, for the new product release, or whatever.
Since when did it become the thing to do to permanently ink yourself up with logos and such from these things?
A grown man with a Harry Potter related tattoo? A Dark Mark, placed on the arm where Voldynuts would have done it? Yikes.
Is it just me being a stick in the mud, or is this just stupid?

His earrings are more disturbing than that tattoo.

having just gotten my first tattoo, I’m hard pressed to say that anyone’s is “stupid,” but this does seem kind of, um, lame? I really hope he likes the 7th book.

Well, it does beg the question why would you want to give yourself the mark of the bad guys. Especially when giving yourself a nice scar on the forehead is way cheeper… Or, in my case something I took care of at the age of six playing tag in the house. But that’s another story.

…and note the wedding ring. I wonder what his wife thinks of him having a permanent homage to the H.P. series on his arm for all the world to see. or perhaps she has a matching “good” HP symbol to balance out the magical energy in their house :)

I don’t understand why this person is making himself look ugly. The things in his earlobes are HORRIBLE looking! To me he looks strange (as in the mind, how he thinks and behaves) and immature (pas mur).

I believe that each individual has his or her right to express themselves in any way possible as long as it does not interfere with the life, liberty or pursuit of happiness of others. It seems that where I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, it is a lot more normal now too express yourself through someone else’s creativity energy and focus. With more options and cheaper tattoo removal procedures, it’s more an more likely that most of these mainstream media expressions via tattoo will be temporary at most. Unless someone pays you for it!

Umm, actually, playing tag at or about the age of six in the house is really most of the story, the only addition being I tried to move the door frame with my head and got a strike plate to the the middle of my forehead for my troubles.

As for the alleged tattoo, while the ear ornaments tend to support the tattoo being actual, nowadays, one can get temporary tattoos that look remarkably realistic …

As far as tatoos go i don’t see this one as that bad. First, its pretty much going to fit in with a lot of other tatoos that are out there of skulls, snakes, etc. Second, unless you are a big harry potter fan you probably won’t know that is where its from, and since as i mentioned in the first part its like other tatooos, its not going to raise any impressions that he would have had it been a different non-literary related tatoo.
It would be different if he were to tatoo a likeness of the character or something recongizable to the general population (the star trek logo, a light saber, super mario mushroom, etc).

I find it interesting that a self-purported Muggle would choose to adorn himself with the Mark of the Dark Lord. I’m sure Voldemort is loving this one.
