Bonds at 751 and counting
Posted by on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 4:36 pm

I haven’t been paying attention to baseball lately, but as the second half of the season begins, Barry Bonds is four home runs away from tying Hank Aaron’s career record of 755. And there are a bunch of other milestones in the cards as well. Oh yeah, and the Red Sox have the best record in baseball, and a 10-game lead in the AL East. Nice.

    Aaron did it without cheating!

  2. Barry Lamar Bonds Says:

Yeah, but the pitchers weren’t cheating in his day either!

  3. A-Rod Says:

It will be so sweet breaking Barry’s record*
Even sweeter is the $30mil per I will be making when I do it!

  4. Andrew Says:

Yeah, how come everyone bashes Barry Bonds but it’s sacrilege to suspect Roger Clemens of using any illicit substance?

The Angels are right there with Boston for the best record in baseball, and actually had pulled ahead, but they faltered the last two weeks before the All-Star break, suffering sweeps by the Royals and Yankees.

2 of my friends are in the farm systems for the MLB.

I know how hard they have worked and how many hours upon hours they have sacrificed to get where they are.

They could have easily juiced and improved their game but they choose not to. The bottom line is that he is cheating. Cheating in a professional sport. It’s a disgrace to the game. Just because one person does it doesn’t mean it’s right if another does.

IMHO anyone caught doping should be dropped from the sport.

I think you meant the title to read:

    Bonds at 751* and counting.

I would so love evidence of Clemens using steroids to come up. I hate Clemens. To the point I was rooting against the US in the world baseball classic thing last season just because he was pitching for the US. And I still hold out hope that Bonds will suffer a career ending, crippling knee injury when he has 754. That sociopathic thug deserves to suffer for the rest of his life. Though at least a decade from now A-Rod will take the record. Hopefully beating the Yankees with a walk off shot in front of the idiot fans who have decided to blame the team’s best player for the failings of his teammates.

…whereupon Geno Auriemma will concoct a way for him to get #755 and #756 anyway.

    What? Oh. Nevermind.

    :)
