“I did some stupid things. It started with my sense of entitlement, the belief that I deserved whatever came to me, that everything was about me.” –Former Connecticut Governor John G. Rowland, reflecting on the corruption that brought down his administration and sent him to prison, in a lengthy Washington Post article published Sunday. (Hat tip: my dad.)
P.S. Genghis Conn is skeptical. Colin McEnroe is deeply unimpressed. Mark Pazniokas reserves explicit judgment, but points out a few things the article didn’t mention.

At least it isn’t the stupid “mistakes were made” apology. Some responsibility is taken. Not knowing the particulars, I can’t make any better judgement than that.

Newspaper columnist, blogger, radio commentator & all-around CT guru Colin McEnroe is, shall we say, not entirely Sold on Johnny-the-Freebie’s Repentance :>. Of course Colin never was Johnny Goombah’s biggest Fan, as he acknowledges up top:
Waw haw haw :)
Me, I’ll give Hot-Tub John the benefit of the doubt. He sounds genuinely chastened & he’s doing Good Works, voluntarily, for free ~ in addition to Earning a (relatively modest) living, which Hey, he’s gotta do, now. If he occasionally backslips into a wee bit of recollective Recrimination (no pun intended :) before Catching himself, that’s Only Human. He seems to be Trying. (Again, no Pun :) Stick to that straight & narrow, Mr. R.
