Former Tennessee great and Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning hung out with the USC Trojans on Tuesday, treating John David Booty to a 90-minute, one-on-one workout. Peyton (or “Mr. Manning,” as the USC players called him) was at the Coliseum to shoot a TV commercial, and he wanted somebody to practice with afterward. The Trojans were, of course, happy to oblige. Off topic, but has anyone else been following this Chris Benoit story? He’s the wrestler who killed his wife and son before hanging himself. There are rumors of “roid rage.” What is interesting is WWE is putting out a bunch of statements denouncing the whole steroids angle…

…Why would WWE be defending steroid use, unless there is a possible liability issue here, if you catch my drift.

I guess that’s why the superstars of football end up with USC.
RE: Benoit. I don’t think the WWE is defending steroid use. They said that he tested negative for roids April 10, and that if he was in a roid rage he wouldn’t have put a bible at the feet of his slain family. Vince McMahon doesn’t want to defend steroid use, he’s trying to distance the correlation between WWE and Steroids, which is probably an impossible task, however the WWE has had a “rigid” steroid policy since McMahon’s federal indictment on Steroid distribution back in 93. “The good guys always win”.

Did you see that WWE cancelled its regular programming after Benoit’s death and instead devoted its airtime to tributes to him? Then they got slammed, and now they are reversing course faster than John Kerry and HRC did in their support for the Iraq war.

Their “regular programming” was going to be a 3 hour tribute show honoring the “deceased” Vince McMahon, who was assassinated in a limousine explosion. I can’t imagine a worse predicament than going forward with something like that the day Benoit and family are found dead, or doing a Benoit memorial instead.
