I’m pretty sure he broke into a full Vietnam flashback at one point

Even better than the fight between the Cubs pitcher and catcher is this video of the Phillip Wellman, manager of the Mississippi Braves AA team, going nuts after being ejected from a game in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Friday.

Title shamelessly stolen from the YouTube post :-)

Proving once again that the people in Mississippi are a little strange.

We Tennesseeans are much more civilized, right Jay? :)

Since I didn’t have a major league ballpark anywhere really close to where I lived (St. Louis about 350 miles away) growing up, I grew up on the AA Southern League.

And stuff like this is part of the charm of the league. Small, but not too small parks, players who are playing to try to make it to the show, and the managers who are sometimes just a touch off center.

Sure, it might not be the best of sportsmanship to do this huge demonstration, but he didn’t jump into the crowd and start throwing punches. It’s wrong, and it’s not in the true spirit of the game of baseball from the uber-purist’s view. From a fan’s POV, I think it’s part of the reason that we love baseball more than any other game.

BTW, the park in Chattanooga is really new, and really nice, in case anyone’s ever in the area.

I love the crawling behind the mound and tossing the resin bag bomb!!!

He showed much more creativity than Lou Pinella.
