Save Jericho?

A major fan campaign to bring back Jericho is underway. It’s unclear what will happen, but CBS is taking notice.

  1. Joe Loy Says:

Save Tommy, Jimmy, Kevin, and Sean. And the ebullient detained-for-questioning shanachie Joey Ice Cream. And most especially the winsome, dark & tragic Jennie Reilly. Save The Black Donnellys.

    :)

  2. Jay Johnson Says:

At this point, I almost never watch a new series that’s serial in nature. I give it at least a season, and then pick it up on DVD, if it looks like it’s going to hang around for a while.

Did it with LOST, picking it up on the DVR midway through the second season. If you wait, you get the benefit of not being kept waiting for the next episode to air. Also did it with 24, which I didn’t start watching live til the 4th season.

We started recording Jericho when it started, and watched the first couple of episodes, but didn’t get much of a positive vibe from it. I’ve always enjoyed the post-apocalyptic show theme, but Jericho didn’t stand out to me in the time I’ve watched it.

Best not to invest too much emotion in these things.

  3. Mad Max, Esquire Says:

Post-apocalyptic shows simply don’t work on TV. Gene Roddenberry tried it twice with Genesis II and Planet Earth. The Planet of the Apes TV series failed. Then there was the kids’ series Ark II. Sometimes it works in movies (the Mad Max series). It never works on TV.

  4. Sean Says:

Didn’t CBS already at least promise a conclusion to the cliffhanger, a la Farscape?
