So, because nobody got kicked off American Idol on last Wednesday’s “Idol Gives Back” charity show, last week’s Idol pool votes get thrown out, and everybody gets to make two brand-new predictions. Which pair of singers will be voted off this week? Make your picks after the jump! (I’m posting this now so I won’t forget later. :)
Incidentally, here’s a YouTube clip of last week’s Elvis-and-Celine digital duet:
(Hat tip: Diane.) And here’s another clip explaining how they did it.

Poor Jordin. Her version of Livin’ on a Prayer really wasn’t very good, but at least she was able to recognize this. LaKisha on the other hand was rather good. I do still hope Jordin can continue on.

I’m getting partially caught up on tonight’s Idol festivities via my TiVo during the break between Periods 2 and 3 of the Sabres game. Two obserations: 1) Yeah, Jordin wasn’t very good; 2) I MISS GINA!!!! This would have been such a good week for her. Stupid voters.

3) It’s Backer week on Idol!!

I vote off: Chris Richardson, and Phil Stacey

Chris is gone and, unfortunately, Jordin. Bad choice of song.
I thought Phil was better than he has been. I thought LaKisha was over-rated. Blake was surprisingly decent. Melinda was Melinda.

Interesting piece on the Elvis/American Idol piece. Now if only they could use that technology to remove Celine Dion.

I’m voting for Chris “budget Timberlake” Richardson and Phil Stacey
*and yeah, Jordin really killed one of my favorite songs of all time. (What can I say, I’m a Jersey girl, this week was fun for me - despite Jon Bon Jovi insisting on wearing a “Philly” t-shirt)

I’m going to go with Chris and Phil.

I think Chris will leave but I think they were all great

Toni, you gotta vote for two contestants… two go home tonight. Unless you think Chris will somehow lose twice. :)

I’m saying Chris and Lakisha. She and Melinda are just too similar and I think most people like Melinda better.

I voted for LaKisha last week, so since I understand that last weeks votes (on Idol, not here) carry over, I think she’s probably still gone, despite an excellent performance last night.
If I was on the fence last week between LaKisha and Chris (which I was), last night certainly resolved that problem. Chris is a definite goner.
On a side note, while Jordin was really bad last night, I love her honesty in saying she knew it was bad. I can think of at least a couple of oldie BonJovi songs “I’ll Be There For You” off of New Jersey, and “Never Say Goodbye” off of Slippery When Wet that both have been much more well suited to her. I think she wanted to “rock out” on Rock week, but it didn’t work.
I think that Phil Stacey has definitely become a dark horse contender in the competition. I really think he’s hit a nice stride in the last few weeks, and I’m beginning to like watching him sing.
Melinda is, well, Melinda. She’s awesome, everyone knows it, yadda yadda. However, I still say she’s not going to win it. Just because you’re awesome does not guarantee that you’ll win.
Blake’s performance of “You Give Love a Bad Name” was simply awesome. I really, really like this kid. I could actually see me buying a CD from him. He’s a good, although not amazing singer. He’s the most talented overall performer in the show this season (or maybe ever).
It’s actually been a pretty fun season for Idol. I was a big Taylor fan last season, to the exclusion of almost everyone else, but this year it’s been fun, because most of the folks have been pretty likeable (if you’re not a complete hard-assed freak).
Anyway, bottom line on the boot this week, LaKisha and Chris.

I hate to agree with you, Jay, because that means I can’t pass you in the standings. Dammit, last week I had a chance, but then they didn’t vote anyone off. This week, I’m with you: LaKisha and Chris.
Next week, we’ll start secret balloting. :)

OOPS Chris and Jordin

Bon Jovi was wearing the “Philly Soul” T-Shirt because that’s the name of his stupid AFL Football team nobody watches.

Not true Angrier…a staff who worked for me asked to leave work before the rest of us were leaving so that she could make it home to watch the arena-league game. Of course, this is likely because her significant other plays for the Georgia Force :-)

Chris and Lakisha.

Jordin and Chris
May 2nd, 2007 at 7:52:51 pm
Lakisha and Chris.
Bon Jovi is a weak ass Bruce Springsteen. Stay in Jersey and out of Philly.
May 2nd, 2007 at 7:57:25 pm
My official picks will be Chris and Lakisha but I won’t be surprised if it’s Phil instead of one of them.
May 2nd, 2007 at 8:24:41 pm
Last week, I was torn between Lakisha and Chris, with Phil as a possibility. This week it’s Chris and Phil, with Jordin as a possible “shocker.” So, Chris seems like a sure thing, right? Yet, I think I’ll mix things up a bit and say Lakisha and Phil.
May 2nd, 2007 at 9:12:07 pm
Late, I know, but I haven’t watched yet. Um….. Let’s see…. Chris and Lakisha.
I want to say Jordin, but…

The sad thing is, Phil was actually pretty good the past few weeks. Chris, on the other hand, should never have lastest this long. What a sucky, sucky singer he is.
