Idol open thread (and spoiler avoidance tips)
Posted by on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 4:00 pm

I’ll be on a flight to L.A. when the American Idol finale airs tonight, so I’m posting this now. Leave your Idol-related comments here! That includes NDLauren’s all-important comment just after 9:00 PM EDT, announcing everyone’s picks. :)

Readers on time zones other than EDT who don’t want to see spoilers, please don’t read the comments on this thread (or view the recent comments page) after 9:00 PM EDT (6:00 PM PDT). Commenters, please don’t say anything about the result anywhere other than in this thread until after 1:00 AM EDT (10:00 PM PDT). Same goes for guestbloggers writing about the result on the main page.

  9. Gardner Says:

    Sweet!

If Clay Aiken came down from Heaven in a cloud, announced himself as the Star Child, fused with Kelly Clarkston, and opened a portal to Elysium offering to lead the sorrowful of the world to perpetual peace and freedom . . . .

You would still have been watching the WRONG show.

LOST was so FREAKING awesome. It is the greatest show in television history. It has its occasional flaws, but its execution the last few episodes has been flawless.

4-7, I would agree with you, except that I was truly not a fan of the very last piece of this episode. It’s a shame that they ended with that and now viewers have to wait until next January to see anything else. I almost wish they had scrapped the 3 16 episode season idea and instead done 2 24 episode seasons. I suppose it will give me a reason to watch the DVDs of this season though again to refresh my memory before the January start next year.

  12. 4-7 Says:

i agree on the latter point. 3 16 ep seasons is dumb

4-7, you are so right. Although I did prefer this season’s cliffhanger to last year’s I wish it had ended before that final scene. My regret is that I recorded Idol and watched Lost. Now I can’t go back and rewatch Lost plus I missed the end of Idol due to their going long. Ack!

Lauren, my guess is that they had this ending “in the can” when the deal was struck for the three 16-episode seasons. I would bet money that they will rerun at least some of this season in Nov-Dec to ramp up to season 4. At the very least, reruns of Lost are probably as good as an untested mid-season replacement if one of the new shows gets canceled.
