I pumped at 3.49 this morning (the cheaper of the three options), and it took over 50 bucks to fill the tank.
While it sucks that I am paying that much, I seldom complain because there is just not point. I have to drive to work, I cannot afford to buy a home close to work, I cannot afford not to work, I cannot take public transportation and I cannot carpool with anyone. I also cannot easily find a job closer to home. It’s not apathy so much as it is the reality that gas consumption for many of us is fairly inelastic.

I think the fact that there are no posts on this thread indicates the apathy of the paying public. Gas is 3.89 a gallon in Malibu today.

Hmm, without any evidence to show that Brendans blog represents a random sampling of opinion, your conclusion is pretty much invalid.

Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, EVERY SUMMER, right around this time. Gas-price alarmism cracks me up…

(Not to say that it couldn’t happen - just that such predictions are relatively useless, IMHO.)
