Three thousand wooden crosses

It's Memorial Day and we're in Santa Barbara, where war protesters have put up a wooden cross for every U.S. soldier killed in Iraq.

An eventful week

I realize the blog has sort of been taken over by weddings, graduations and the like in recent days. It’s been a very eventful week in my world! But never fear, dear readers: this doesn’t signal a permanent transition away from “newsy” blog coverage to mostly personal blogging. At least, I don’t think it does! Admittedly, I never quite know what lies ahead with my own blog; it tends to evolve organically. But I fully intend to get back soon to blogging about newsy stuff more often. If nothing else, the onset of hurricane season will force that upon me. :)

Of course, with bar-exam study, and then starting a job, I’ll probably have less time for blogging than during law school, and the guestbloggers may play a larger role. We’ll see. As I said, this place tends to evolve on its own, without any master plan by yours truly. But I just wanted to reassure everyone that the recent trend toward a majority of posts being about personal stuff isn’t going to be the “new normal” here at BrendanLoy.com. There’s just been a whole lot going on in my life recently, and not a whole lot of time to blog about other stuff.

And another thing…

Happy Birthday to Becky’s mom, Ginny!!! :)

(According to the timestamp, I should say Happy Belated Birthday… but it’s still May 27 in California, where I am, as I’m typing this. Hehe.)

El gran dia del Señor y Señora Long
Posted by on Monday, May 28, 2007 at 2:28 am

That’s “Mr. and Mrs. Long’s big day.” The Spanish title is, of course, a shout-out to Bea’s Colombian heritage, which was on full display at both the ceremony and reception… especially the latter, when a Colombian dance troupe performed (and ultimately invited the newlyweds onto the dance floor) in a surprise orchestrated by Bea’s parents:

That was fun, and it was a lovely wedding all-around. Here’s a cute shot of Becky and Andrew earlier in the day:

And here’s one of me and Becky, who coincidentally matched (my purple tie was for purposes of matching the bridesmaids’ dresses, but it also happened to match the purple lining of Becky’s dress):

By the way, that’s a black wrap she’s wearing around her arm — it’s not actually part of the dress. Just in case anyone was wondering.

Anyway, I’ll post a full wedding gallery later, but for now, a brief sampling of photo highlights is after the jump.
