I know I’m supposed to be on a light-blogging quasi-hiatus, but I have to post this nugget of major NDLS breaking news:

I’m hearing through the grapevine, from what I believe to be reliable sources, that Dean Patty O’Hara will resign before the schoolyear is over. I guess the combination of the rankings controversy and all the other criticism that’s been swirling has finally done her in.
I don’t know too much more than that at this point, but a few additional details are after the jump.
…
UPDATE: Okay, it’s April 2 now, so I’m removing the “jump” and changing the title. This post is, of course, a joke… APRIL FOOLS!!
:)
For those who saw this post before I changed it: did I fool you? This one totally fooled me.
Happy April Fools Day, everybody. :)
P.S. More Internet April Foolishness here. Don’t miss Think Geek’s collection of April 1 products… and take special note of the “iPhone - Now Shipping!” button at left. Heh.

You didn’t fool me but that is certainly wishful thinking.

I hate you Brendan Loy. That’s not even close to funny… which of course means you fooled me…

Mr. Loy,
I will see you in my office first thing Monday morning.

Good one.

You got me you jerk. I got excited for a second, only to be brought back to earth by cruel cruel reality.
April 1st, 2007 at 1:57:23 pm
You got me. I shrieked out a, “Yes!” Possibly my loudest ND exclamation since ND beat Michigan 1L in football or my actual acceptance.

You know what gave it away? The ! after “resign”

Pope wrote that “hope springs eternal.” That’s my excuse for falling because even though I was specifically reading your blog with April Fool’s Day in mind, I thought there might be a chance it was true.

I knew it was a joke, but hoped it was true. *sigh*

Why is the Observer running a poll question on “Do you feel the Notre Dame Law School is well respected?”
http://www.ndsmcobserver.com/home/
Is this a prelude to a forthcoming hit piece on NDLS’s precipitous fall from 20 to 28 in the USNWR rankings?
April 1st, 2007 at 9:09:16 pm
Administrators and faculty watch rankings because it impacts their Vitae. Prospective students watch starting salaries; Which would be higher if Brendan had not turned down those megabuck offers just so they could move south.
O.T. Rutger’s defence is for real. They just shut down LSU. The Scarlet Knights are “The Knights That Say Nicht”.

Actually, any prospective student who looks beyond the “average salary” figure will not think less of ND if 3Ls take clerkships. In fact, it probably helps. Most law schools provide information that breaks down what percentage of students pursued particular categories of employment and what the median salary for that category was. Usually, there are three categories - private practice, government, public interest. Clerkship salaries affect the median salary for “government” employment, not for “private practice.” In fact, the more students we have taking clerkships, the more appealing we’ll be.

Well played, you glorious bastard.
April 2nd, 2007 at 12:29:43 pm
Don’t you mean magnificent bastard? :)
April 2nd, 2007 at 2:17:18 pm
Thanks for the clarification 3L. In my profession CPA/Educator there is a similar breakout.
I should have known Brendan was doing his part to raise ND’s image. ;)

As long as I got the bastard part right. :-P
