Last call for Irish Trojan Fantasy Baseball
Posted by on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 8:53 pm

I know I said earlier that I’d keep the league open for signups through 12:01 a.m. Eastern on Friday, but due to overwhelming response thus far, we already have 14 teams signed on. Some are already of the opinion that 14’s too many, but I’m leaving it open for TWO more spots in the league this season.

Please email ASAP if you want one of ‘em. For those who’ve emailed and gotten the password already, if you snooze, you lose. Get me an email to irishtrojanbaseball AT yahoo DOT com to get the password. I’ll send the password to any who ask for it, but when it’s full of 16 teams, we’re all done.

So, get on it, if you want to join our league!

UPDATE–Really, really, the last call. 15 teams in, only one left.

FINAL UPDATE–League’s full. Looking forward to a good season, and a lot of fun. For those in the league, I’m going to give you until 6:00 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday to set your preferences for the autodraft. I’ll then run the draft, and you’ll have your starting team to work with. League games will probably start either on Saturday or Sunday. I’ll let you know.

I tried to send an e-mail expressing interest in playing. I assume I did it right. Thanks

  2. Wobbly H Says:

    Are we related?

  3. Andrew H Says:

    Probably not

  4. Andrew H Says:

Okay, I’m having trouble. I have the password for the league but I don’t have the league id. Thoughts?

  5. gahrie Says:

    Thoughts?

    Why are we here?

What is the meaning of life?

Is there anytning more sublime at 3:00A.M. on a Saturday night then a freshly prepared Tommy burger?

What happened the the era of the great comedy duo…where are today’s Dean/Martin;Crosby/Hope; Abbott/Costello?

What exactly are the lyrics to Louie Louie?

Did adam have a belly button? How about Eve?

  6. Wobbly H Says:

    Andrew,
It appears you’re buggered, as they say Down Under. Besides, Long would have never gone for a league with two Andrews.

  7. Brendan Loy Says:

6:00 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday?? You mean, like, today??

  8. Wobbly H Says:

Guess not. I’m moving stuff around right now.

  9. ScottF Says:

“6:00 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday?? You mean, like, today??”

What he said… I just saw the roster changes and would like to adjust. Any chance of midnight instead of 6:00pm?

FWIW, I think the roster changes are good. A 25 round draft for 16 teams is 400 players. About covers the starting players on all the teams without getting too deep into the subs.

  10. Andrew H Says:

Wow…no help from all these comments. I thought for sure somebody would address it other than to say I’m buggered. I won’t be able to log-on now until tonight because my work has a block on fantasy sports websites. I’m not sure I can meet the 6 PM deadline.

  11. Wobbly H Says:

Okay, genius, let’s slow it down a little. The league is full; you’re still asking questions about how to join so obviously you are not in said league. Buggad = Fucked = Out of league

  12. Brendan Loy Says:

Andrew H, sorry for the lack of response, but I, at least, have no idea how this stuff works, so I couldn’t help you. Anyway, dunno if you saw the commissioner’s note, but the deadline has been extended to midnight.

  13. David K. Says:

I say you kick wobbly out of the league to make room for andrew h for being a supreme asshole.

  14. Brendan Loy Says:

I thought Andrew H was in the league. I’m confused.

  15. marty west Says:

The roster finalization deadline was extended until midnight….not the number of league members.

Jay had originally set it to auto draft at 6pm…meaning roster order would be announced at 530….but now its been changed to midnight…so you can logon at 1130 and see when you will be picking.

  16. Wobbly H Says:

    Not your call, Davie.

  17. Andrew H Says:

It’s great that the league deadline has been extended and I got an e-mail from Jay saying I’m in the league and he gave me the password, but I still don’t have the league ID. How did anyone else do this? When I go to sign-up it asks me for the league id and password. I only have one of the two….

I sent Jay an e-mail last night after his note saying I was in the league, but haven’t heard back.

  18. Wobbly H Says:

    Andrew H,
There might have been some miscommunication between the two of you, because it looks like our league is at 16. Regardless, here’s the league ID: 331892

  19. Andrew H Says:

Thanks Wobbly, I think you might be right because I found the id after posting earlier tonight, it was in an obscure place in a link from the original post. At any rate, I got the league full message and I figured I was in trouble. I still haven’t heard back from Jay on my 2 e-mails but I think the writing is on the wall!

  20. Jay Johnson Says:

Here’s the key part of my post at 8:53 last night that SHOULD answer any questions.

I sent the password to everyone who asked for it last night, including Andrew H. However, Andrew, I did not tell you at any time that you were “in the league.” I sent you the password information, that’s it.

I’m sorry, but as I said in the post, we were filling the league to a maximum of 16 spots, and after that, no further registrations would be allowed.

As my later edits to the post showed, we were quickly at 15, and shortly thereafter, 16 teams.

Hope this answers any lingering questions that may be out there.

  21. Jay Johnson Says:

Oh, and one last thing, the deadline of midnight was only for players in the league to set their player draft preferences, not extending the time in which signups were allowed.

  22. Andrew H Says:

Fair enough, but I think the e-mail could have been a little clearer on the id/password and on exactly how the spots would be doled out. My bigger beef is really the first part, although obviously others figured it out.

I’m a little frustrated but them’s the breaks.

  23. Andrew H Says:

And of course, in my heart I’ll always know I would’ve won this league easy!
