I chose the NBC coverage because Carson Daly & co. had the good sense to shut up, and let the pictures speak for themselves, during the countdown and celebration — as opposed to, say, Fox News, where one of the anchors was clearly drunk (”they’re clountin’ down”) and the other offered such insightful commentary as “28 seconds, folks, until the year 2007, and what a year it has been.”

UPDATE: Here’s the Dick Clark version. Dick sounds rather inebriated, himself.
Yeah, I feel like they need to pull the plug on Dick as the host of the NYE show. It’s very sad to see him struggle through the show and I found myself changing the channel.
c’mon, if you had a stroke, would you want to be hidden away as some unacceptable being? It isn’t his job to make people comfortable with his current limitations - grow up, people. I just think it’s cool that the guy I associate with New Year’s Eve still is part of New Year’s Eve.

They need to stop carting Clark out every New Year. It’s hard to watch.
