First came the “brilliant” decision to keep running the ball against USC back in September — because who needs a pass offense when you’re down by multiple touchdowns in the second half?
And now, against Auburn, the most awesome play call in a game-deciding fourth-down situation I’ve ever seen: instead of going for the potential tying field goal, have the quarterback throw the ball away!
I’m not even a Nebraska fan, and I’m totally on the fire Callahan bandwagon.

I am just shocked. They needed to try for the field goal. There was just no question. Unbelievable.

I dont know what BC was thinking after half time but I am going to have night mares about i-back screen passes that he kept calling.
zac taylor, you have to throw the ball somewhere in the vicinity of the receiver to give him a damn chance.

Heh. Sounds like something Charlie Weis would do.

Reminds me of those short left passes USC keeps running……

Heh. I think not. This was more like Dirk Koetter vs. USC punting the ball away with about a minute left. Weis doesn’t make bad calls the way Callahan did in this one.

What’s most obvious to me is just how bad the games have been. Nothing like a month, month and a half off to get teams rusty. West Virginia/GA Tech has at least been high scoring, but the other games have been unwatchable.
