I have a 3 year old son who loves Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jack Johnson.
The Curious George soundtrack is pretty legit. It’s Jack Johnson and a bunch of others like G. Love and Ben Harper.
My person fave is “the 3 R’s” aka “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” I would highly suggest this CD for the 4 and under crowd. The “Sharing Song” is another good one.
Sing what I sing
Sing after me
Be my echo
If you can be
Sing Tra La La (echo)
He he he (ehco)
Ha ha ha (echo)
Be be be (echo)
Sing like a birdie and sing afffter me…!
and to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle..

Isn’t eating crumbs absurd
Try a ham and cheese on rye
And a piece of cherry pie
If the crumbs are all you want
Don’t come to my restaurant!
This is the song that doesn’t end
Yes, it goes on and on, my friend
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was
And they’ll continue singing it forever just because
This is the song that doesn’t end
Yes, it goes on and on, my friend
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was
And they’ll continue singing it forever just because
This is the song that doesn’t end

And they’ll continue singing it forever just because
This is the song that doesn’t end
Yes, it goes on and on, my friend
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was
And they’ll continue singing it forever just because…
P.S. I like the version of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” that starts with the word “me”…
Me out to the ballgame, take
Me out with the crowd, buy
Me some peanuts and cracker jack, I
Don’t care if I never get back, and it’s root, root
Root for the home team, if
They don’t win it’s a shame, and
It’s one, two, three strikes you’re out at the old ballgame, [blank syllable]
The ND fight song is always good, but I’ve noticed the other day while watching the rock opera “Tommy” that Pinball Wizard got the little guy bouncing up and down.
Of course it was Elton John singing and not Roger Daltry so maybe I should start hiding all the pink things in the house….
I’m taking care of you
Taking good care of you
For once I was very little too
Now I take care of you
— Fred Rogers
You won’t even remember this song, Brendan, but it was always the best.

I realize this comment may hurt my street cred, but if I had little kids in my life, I would sing “Golden Slumbers” by the Beatles to them.

“Juicy” The Notorious B.I.G.
“Spread love is the Brooklyn way”
Kids here that music and the struggle to go from bad to good and it just soothes them

Ditto Laurie B., the Elmo Echo song, Jack Johnson and anything by Biggie/Puffy. :)
My personal fave: Ladybug Picnic, a la Sesame Street.

I used to sing an Americanized version of “Alouette” using my kid’s nickname. Don’t ask me how, but it worked.

Any David Allan Coe song.
Seriously though, my favorites to sing to my son are “This Old Man” and “The Wheels on the Bus.”
