    John Kerry sucks.

  2. Angrier and Angrier Says:

Gee. Maybe now we can focus on important problems facing this country. I know that’s a hard thing for Bush and the RNC to do when a lot of those problems are as a result of their incompetence.

  3. Brendan Loy Says:

    About time, idiot.

(Referring to Kerry, of course, not either of the commenters above.)

  4. Joe Mama Says:

“Gee. Maybe now we can focus on important problems facing this country.”

Seriously, now we can get back to Mark Foley’s pervy IMs to Congressional pages ;-)

But how dumb is Bush anyway. With all the media…even the liberal media…focused on the Kerry statement, Bush chooses today to tell the American Public that Rumsfeld and Cheney will continue to serve until Bush leaves office in January, 2007. Thus bringing the focus back again on how well or badly the Administration has handled Iraq. Given that polls show that the majority of Americans don’t like how the war has been handled…why would Bush need to again re-focus on perhaps the two most un-popular members of his Administration just 6 days before the mid-term election?? Why not instead try to keep up the concept that Americans made the right choice in 2004 when they chose him over Kerry and that really the 2006 election is obviously about the same choice??? (The preceding statement is not what I believe…but at least seems to me to be the way that the Republicans need to keep focusing over the next several days to try and turn around some of these races.)

  6. Ken Says:

err…that should have been leaving office in January 2009…perhaps a Freudian (or Kerryian) slip.

  7. Laura Says:

The interesting part of the so-called apology is Kerry’s sentence which preceded what you quoted:

“I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform.”

In other words, he’s still blaming other people for being “stupid,” in taking his words at face value. It’s about people who were “misinterpreting” and “wrongly implying.” Heaven forbid that John Kerry actually say “I messed up and shouldn’t have said that.”

    Not much of an apology.

    Best wishes,

Why the hell does Bush care what Kerry thinks? He won the election fair and square and he has some serious problems that are far more important than what John Kerry says. Kerry is beaten, spend that so-called political capital.

  9. 4-7 Says:

Kerry would have took all the wind out of Republican sails by apologizing immediately. And, whether or not he meant it as taken, it was ambiguous and when we say ambiguous but hurtful things we should all be so lucky as to get the chance to apologize.

  10. Angrier and Angrier Says:

Bush cares because he has no accomplishments for the Republicans to run on. In fact, this Republican Congress has spent less time in session than the famous “Do Nothing” Congress during Truman’s tenure. Bush is trying to revisit the 2004 campaign. Unfortunately for him, 2004 was a Hurricane Katrina and 1,500 troops lives ago.

  11. Alasdair Says:

Two relevant comments I heard yesterday …

    1) So Senator kerry is now saying it was a “botched joke” - and he is, of course, well-known for his skills as a joke-teller …
    2) There he goes again - with an apology that says “I was for the joke until I was against it !”
