Happy Birthday to me!

I’m 25!! I feel like I should go out and rent a car!!

Actually, I don’t consider myself to really be 25 years old until 9:22 AM, my birth hour. And because I’ll be away most of the day today (in Chicago for my Immigration Law class, and then at dinner with a professor and some classmates), Becky and I are delaying our celebration of my birthday until next Sunday, when my parents are in town. (On my iCal calendar, it actually says “My birthday” today and “My birthday (observed)” on Sunday. Like it’s President’s Day or something. Heh.)

That said, I will accept birthday greetings at any time throughout the day, or week. I always enjoy stretching my birthday out over as long a period of time as possible. :)

P.S. Happy Birthday to DrawingDead, too! His birthday is also today. And also, Happy Belated Birthday to Shannon (Oct. 27th) and Sóren (Oct. 28th).

Happy Birthday! But damn, I’m older than you! How did that happen, considering you graduated from high school/college before me? Did you skip a grade or something?

  2. DrawingDead says:

Cheers, Pal. Hope you have a good actual one (the Orthodox birthday, I believe), and the later one (the Reformed variety).

  3. Brendan Loy says:

Patrick, no, I didn’t skip a grade, but I was 4 when I started kindergarten. Well, 4 and about 10 months really (I used to proudly say I was “four and three-quarters”), but still, 4. So I was always young for my grade. I was the youngest in my grade in elementary school, and the third-youngest in middle school… I lost track once I got to high school. Then I went to college and met a girl who skipped her senior year of high school, and thus, despite being in my grade, was 8 1/2 months younger than me. I subsequently married said girl. :)

    LOL, Jay…

Happy Birthday. I wanted to send an email on your determination to vote Democratic because of disappointment with the Republicans but couldn’t find a contact me button. I get it that you are more socially liberal, but how about taxes and how about that war on terror? Are you OK with the Democratic PROMISES on those issues?

  7. Kristin says:

Happy Birthday Brendan! I know what you mean about the whole go rent a car thing….it’s really the only I-can’t-do-something-because-I’m-not-old-enough milestone left!

  8. Rebecca Loy says:

I thought Soren’s name had the two dots…not the accent or the slash thingy. Pokepoke!

Happy Birthday. I once heard that 25 was halfway to 30. ;)

  9. MumZ says:

Any way you look at it, 25 is half way to somewhere- but it is really half way to 50! Happy B’day, Brendan!

  10. Casey says:

    Hey Brendan! Merry Christmas!

  11. Bandit says:

    Nothing quite says DORK like

  12. Bandit says:

    Oh yeah and Happy B-day

  13. Randy says:

Except join the AARP, or run for president. This is a politically-minded site after all. :)

Hey – on *this* blog, isn’t everything political ?

  21. Mike says:

I’m surprised, Brendan, that you would consider a specific minute to be an hour…

    Happy birthday regardless.

You’ll have to change your “about me” blurb, old man.

  25. Alasdair says:

Darth Aggie – that’s why our Brendan is still a nerd, and not yet a geek ! He’s still working on that exquisite attention to detail bit … (grin)

You know, Brendan may not be that far off from AARP membership eligibility, really. I got an application in the mail from them (addressed to ME) right around the time I turned 30.

I woulda joined, but I don’t like the geezery quality of the lobbying efforts of the group. Thought about joining to blog about it. Maybe they thought that Drawing Dead meant that I was close to death, and ergo ripe for membership…
