Free Food!
Posted by on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 9:05 am

For those of you in the South Bend area, you can drop by the new Chipotle today between 11am and 8pm and score a free burrito and a drink. In case you didn’t already know, the much-anticipated Chipotle is at the corner of Main and Douglas in Mishawaka next to Chick-fil-A.

  1. JP Losman Says:

Brendan are you or Becky Buffalo Bills fans? i am wondering because ive seen post about the Sabre’s during NHL’s playoffs, and also about the one and only Buffalo Bulls of UB.

  2. B. Minich Says:

Chipotle . . . I’m addicted to that place. I eat there at least once a week, if not more. Mmmmm, burito bols.

If I move back home, that will be the one thing I will miss the most - no Chipotle!

  3. A Nun Mouse Says:

So it’s big news that people in South Bend are getting a Chipotle? Well, yee haw, we have a Chipotle AND a Qdoba in our town! Shucks, little missy!

  4. A Nun Mouse Says:

P.S. We don’t have a Chick-fil-A yet so maybe we ARE deprived in spite of our Mexican extranvaganza?

We do have Popeyes and La Bomba though.

  5. Anonymous Says:

The fact that I am incredibly excited about the new Chipotle, yet another boring chain restaurant, tells me that I’ve been in South Bend way, way too long.

  6. isuquinndog Says:

Ha! I’m going to Qdoba for lunch!

And God I wish we had a Chick-fil-A.

  7. Randy Says:

It’s Mishawaka not South Bend……Geography lesson anyone?????

  8. Coach Leahy Says:

Come on, Randy. It’s all the same thing, unless, of course, you’re talking about Granger. Granger rocks.

  9. PenguinSix Says:

Isn’t Chipotle still owned by McDs?

  10. JP Losman Says:

Coach Leahy do u live in Granger?

  11. B. Minich Says:

Chipotle is now public, so unless McDs owns most of the stock (which is possible, I don’t know), no.

One thing I like about them is the fact that they buy organic food and farm raised meat. While I’m not an uber green type, I do like supporting industries that try to do as little harm as possible to the enviroment.

  12. Coach Leahy Says:

    JP,

    I wish!

    Minich,

    McDonald’s has a majority stake in Chipotle…

  13. Coach Leahy Says:

I dig the fact that they sell beer. That’s a nice touch in a fast food place.

  14. Kristin Says:

I’m going right after class! It’s the closest I can get to my beloved Sonic Burrito in Spokane…

  15. Patrick Says:

That was a damn good burrito…well worth an hour in line!

  16. Casey Says:

    Hmmmm….

    500 miles to Mishawaka
    / 25 mpg = 20 gallons gas
    *2.60 / gallon = $52.00
    * 2 for round trip = $104.00

    4 fake mustaches/beards
    *3 pairs silly sunglasses
    *2 wigs
= 24 different disguises for 24 free burritos

    24 free burritos * $5 cost = $120 free!

    $120 - $104 = $16 value!!

I should be in Mishawaka in about 8 hours….

  17. Brendan Loy Says:

    LOL

  18. Kristy Says:

I have eaten at the ORIGINAL Chipotle restaurant in Denver, CO. Be jealous, friends :) Altho, no free burritos! Casey, can you do some math for me? How many burritos would a Kristy eat if a Kristy could eat free burritos…

  19. B. Minich Says:

I didn’t know they gave away free ones, or I would have made an effort to be at the one that opened near where I work recently. I went the day after.

    Oh, well.

Casey: have you ever been to a Chipolte before? Those burritos are HUGE. Eating 120 before they get all “ewwww” is not pratical.

  20. B. Minich Says:

OK, I don’t know why I thought you wanted 120 burritos, but eating 24 is still a pretty tall order. I struggle with 1, and I’m pretty hefty, if you get my drift. (Heck, I started eating the bols when I started trying to lose weight - the big torilla shell adds much caloric content.)

  21. NDLauren Says:

Mmmm….burritos…we made a Chipotle run Saturday during halftime-fastest Chipotle run ever! 1/4 mile drive, 6 burritos bought, and back with more than enough time to spare to watch the rest of the (tear) slaughter…at least I had me a nice fajita burrito with barbacoa and hot sauce to drown my tears in…
