Like Castro dying is going to make Cuba a free country overnight. The U.S. shouldn’t make the same mistake of thinking that once a leader dies the inhabitants of a country are going to welcome us as liberators. You have whole institutions in Cuba built on Castro’s system. Assholes who have been in power there for 40+ years have a lot to lose by switching to a Democracy, and they will fight it.
A&A - it isn’t likely to happen overnight, as long as the family still remains in power … it does, however, become a whole bunch more possible without the Great Leader Himself keeping things as the only vote that matters wants …
LOL - just keep believing that - the rational folk amongst us remember that the very best and brightest that the Democratic Party could come up with was judged by the signficant majority of the people who voted in the 2004 Presidential Election to be worse than Bush, the man who was re-elected President … and what does that say about the Democratic party, hmmmmm ?

You know Fidel Castro means “Faithful Castle” in that gray area between Latin and Spanish. Apropos.

Exactly Alasdair, I mean Bush is doing just fine as the “Great Leader” but there should only be one mindless dictator that close to our borders.

The Red Sox’s 3B Mike Lowell (who I didn’t realize was Cuban) gets candid about Castro:
