Chocola doesn’t care about this district. He’s just a Bush yes man. Donnelly is actually a conservative democrat. He’s pro-life. The key difference between the two is that Donnelly is an independant voice. He’ll vote in the district’s best interests rather than his party’s best interest.
I can’t remember who said it, but some Republican said that the GOP has f-d up so badly at this point that it is almost impossible for the Dems to screw up taking one or both houses at the Mid-Terms. Of course, that’s kinda what I thought this time in 2004 and look how that turned out.
Pro-life? What does that mean exactly for a Democrat? Would he support all efforts to criminalize abortion? I’m not sure. He claims to be “Pro-Life”, but I’m always apprehensive when a Democrat says that. There are, mind you (or me), very solidly, consistently Pro-Life Democrats (Tony Hall and Charlie Luken come to mind b/c I’m from SW Ohio), but you have to be careful. Although in the House it’s largely irrelevant, what really matters is judicial nominees and confirmations. Do I want to support the political ascendance of someone who won’t necessarily be on board where it really counts? If Donnelly were willing to say that he only supports the nomination of Pro-Life judges, I might be willing to listen.
Well, glancing quickly at the internally-Linkedy-linked Poll report I’d say it looks like it IS a Horserace, Kristin :) ~ the D 46%, the candyassed R :} 41%, 13% undecided, and a 5-point pollmargin of Error. / Perhaps the Chocolatistas have Indeed hitched their wagon Behind the Sweetsmelling north End of a Horse Going South. :)
I’ve seen no polls on it but here in CT, just btw, all 3 incumbent Republican Congresspersons (we have But Five districts) are Said ~ y’know, by all the wise & well-informed Say-ers :> ~ to be In Big Trouble. Two of them are Longtime veterans too; and the 3rd has Several terms under his belt.
How Great would it Be if we actually got an All-Dem Delegation, 5 Representatives and both Senators. / Now if those 3 Dem Challengers can just Cling Tightly to soon-to-be-Senate-Nominee Joe Lieberman’s coattails this November, we’ll be In like Flynn. :)
[Hi Mister Mouse. / See the pretty Cheese up there? Niiiice cheese…come on now, don’t be wee cowerin’ & timorous, beastie, You can Get it…thaaat’s right…SNAP! “SQUEEEAK!!!” :]
The last thing this country needs in the next year or so is a return to a Congress which denies the Executive Branch the funds to pursue a war … as I seem to recall, this country has been there, and done that, and the Vietnamese and Cambodians and the others in the area have spent the following decades paying for it … do we *really* want to do the same to the Middle East ?
I’m all for the Dems putting a massive scare into the GOP majority to punish them for their spending profligacy, but what’s wrong with Chocola? Josh Marshall’s dirt on him is that he’s for privatizing Social Security, which is, um, a great idea. What’s Brendan’s beef?
Oh, “blush”, my tush. :> ‘Fess Up, Bonnie Charlie, yer as durtyminded as the Next laddie. / And I’m the Next laddie so’s I Orta knows. :)
(Now for what I’d wrote Afore yez posted Dat auld blarney :} ~
Huh! Set yer trap for a wee peaceful Mousie as gentle as a Dove and bedamn if the fierce Raptor of Scotland doesn’t Predate upon the Bait for to Hawk his warlike wares. :) C’est la vie say the Old Folks, it Goes to Show you Never Can Tell. ;>
OKOK. / A Fair Enough concern, O thou mighty Alasdair mac Falco The Peregrinus :). / But I Hugely doubt that a Democratic Congress would simply & suddenly Defund the War in such a way as to Further endanger our troops and/or hand Victory to the Enemy with our Compliments. Joe - we mostly agree - tho I’d add in another factor …
How about we give the folk over there, actually doing the fighting, some say in the matter … ?
Even if it’s just by looking at the re-upping rate, and the enlistment rates … so far, once one filters out MSM hysteria and BDS, re-upping is remarkably high … don’t seem to be very many high-tailing it for Canada, or pulling a Kerry, and getting out after 4 months … if anything, they are fighting to get back with their units to complete the tasks in which they believe … amazing what a volunteer Armed Forces can do, dontcha think ?
Well, Patrick, seeing as how he’s a Representative and not a Senator he doesn’t have a whole hell of a lot of impact on judicial nominations.
Chocola is one of those douches who makes me a yellow dog Democrat. Santorum’s another one. And fancy that — they’re both opposed (and, so far, seem to be trailing behind) pro-life Democrats. Don’t get me started on Specter.
“…but what’s wrong with Chocola?”

Other than the fact that he’s a rubber-stamp little rich kid who claims to be a spending hawk while voting for every wasteful bill(be it energy, budget, prescription drug, or no-bid military) that GOP leadership asks him to, all the while sending and endless barrage of taxpayer-funded mailers to boast of his so-called accomplishments? That he voted against overriding the stem cell bill? He’s a throwback to old robber baron plutocrats, and has NEVER cast a vote in the interests of working class Americans. Other than that, he’s ok, I guess.

I hear the bee from Honey Nut Cheerios and the Lucky Charms guy are going to kick his ass after the primary.
(Sorry, can’t help but think of “Count Chocula” when I see this guy’s name.)

Glancing quickly at the title, I thought it said “South Bend Horse race.” :)

I thought Count Chocula was a Libertarian.

So, if he is defeated in the Senate, do we get free cereal?
July 25th, 2006 at 8:36:37 am
Since he’s not a Senator, I don’t know.

As if that ever happens…

Joe - just a thought, but …
Be VERY careful what you ask for …
