In case you missed the day’s really big story, here it is: ‘N Sync singer Lance Bass is gay.

Well. Thank goodness that’s settled.

And this is big, why, exactly ?

  2. Briandot Says:

To echo the first comment from the Andrea Yates story: “Duh?”

  3. NEBRASKA 94/95&97 Says:

Thanks Lance for clearing that up for me!

  4. Angrier and Angrier Says:

This would have been news back when Lance Bass was still somebody.

  5. Scientizzle Says:

    I’m shocked. Just shocked.

  6. NSuck Says:

Why do we care about the sexuality of a culturally irrelevant, back-up singer for a washed-up boy band?

Not big news. Brendan, enough with the pandering to the gay agenda. No one gives a flying fuck about Lance Bass.

  7. 4-7 Says:

This story is b.s. Lance Bass is going to be an astronaut.

  8. Brendan Loy Says:

Brendan, enough with the pandering to the gay agenda.

LOL! This post is “pandering to the gay agenda”? Hahaha… that’s awesome.

Lance Bass is going to be an astronaut.

The first gay man in space? :)

  9. Patrick Says:

    Ok,

NSuck, you’re an idiot. Did you even read Brendan’s post? There is a pronounced level of sarcasm (i.e. “In case you missed the day’s really big story”). He’s not pandering to anything. Just because Brendan is generally a proponent of the “gay agenda”, does not mean that his every mentioning of homosexuality qualifies as pandering thereto. This is especially true where, as here, a post sarcastically calls the coming out of “a culturally irrelevant, back-up singer for a washed-up boy band” REALLY big news.

As a sidenote, I will raise another issue. As is made clear by the media prominence of Lance Bass’ coming out story, the entertainment industry has a serious preoccupation with celebrities’ sexual orientations and with homosexuals in general(seriously, you can’t watch a TLC show anymore without a gay host. It’s like a prerequisite or something!) I wouldn’t put it past an attention-starved celebrity to claim homosexuality simply to get his/her name back in the press. In fact, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find out that, 15 years from now, Lance Bass is happily married with kids. I’m not saying that I disbelieve him, necessarily, but I will say that whenever I read about a celebrity’s supposed “coming out”, I’m a skeptic.

  10. B. Minich Says:

I feel a great disturbance in the force . . . it is as if millions of hysterical girls everywhere cried out, and were suddenly silenced.

  11. Angrier and Angrier Says:

Lance Bass has gone from being irrelevant to being gay and irrelevant.

  12. Mike Says:

Eh, I’ll disagree, Angrier. Not that he’s not irrelevant — he obviously is — but if he’s gay he hasn’t gone to being gay; he already was, he’s just talking about it now.

  13. dcl Says:

and we care because? Seriously, I could annoy Mike right now with a grammatically illogical phrase! Now I say.

  14. Angrier and Angrier Says:

    Mike-

Yes. You make a good point. He has been gay and irrelevant for quite some time.

  15. Rebecca Loy Says:

    LOL! Y’all crack me up.
