Too good to be true
Posted by on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 6:19 am

Tantalizing rumors on the Internets that Notre Dame men’s basketball coach Mike Brey (who really, really, really, really, really sucks) might be headed to N.C. State have, alas, been shot down. We’re stuck with him for at least another year. (Hat tip: NDNation.)

It’s a shame, really — given how much Becky hates Brey, it would have been sweet if Arizona State, her grad-school alma mater, had, by hiring former N.C. State coach Herb Sendek, set into motion a chain of events leading to Brey’s departure from South Bend. Oh, well.

Hopefully after ND wins the football national championship, ND fans will be on such a cloud 9 that the entire basketball season will be such a blur that Mike Brey still being there won’t seem to matter so much :-)

    Heh.

Based on what I have read here, I’m glad he said no to my school… but I guess that doesn’t say much about the attractiveness of the job…

  4. Pat Says:

Losing Mike Brey to any other program right now would be a very bad thing for the program.

Brey also does not really suck by the way. He has to improve, but you make the man sound worse than Ty Willingham or Paul Hackett. Notre Dame could do a whole lot worse.
