Bowling & the Backer
Posted by on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at 11:34 pm

Here are my photos of bowling and the Backer from Thursday night. I was delayed getting them online because I wanted to get permission from the people in a couple of the photos. It’s one thing to post embarrassing pictures of myself at the Backer, but before I post embarrassing pictures of, say, Dmytro, I want to be sure it’s OK with him. :) Anyway, the best picture of the bunch is, obviously, this one:

Heh. That’d be BJ and KBoss, apparently getting ready to go to the Broke-Backer. :)

Here is a cute picture of me and swake (a.k.a. Sarah):

And here’s a nice candid of Sarah and BJ.

Oh yeah, and I’m under specific orders from Sarah to post this one on the blog:

:)

Also: Chris’s 9-strike bowling game.

Whole gallery here.

Incidentally… now that I have my photo galleries on the correct server again, I’m planning on getting those long-delayed wedding photos online for my fourth blogaversary on Tuesday. Stay tuned!

Cute animals make thunderstorms way more fun
Posted by on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at 10:52 pm

There’s thunder, lightning, and rain outside, as a warm front approaches. The animals are alert. Robbie has his ears perked up and has moved toward the center of the house, his standard thunderstorm behavior (not a bad instinct!). The cats are doing their typical thing too: walk toward the window, listen curiously to the rain, then run away when they get startled by the thunder, rinse and repeat. Heh.

Actually, just now, Toby stayed staunchly by the window during a loud thunderclap. She’s a brave one!

Butter, however, seems rather scared. Awww.

P.S. More detailed radar view here. If we lose power and don’t get to watch the second half of the Duke-LSU game, I’m going to be annoyed…

Quote of the day
Posted by on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at 10:40 pm

“They didn’t do anything right offensively, except score.” –ESPN commentator on Duke’s last possession. Heh. Well, at least they’re getting the important stuff right!

Duke leads, 24-15 with 40.1 left in the first half.

UPDATE: 26-15 at the half. Another “Curl Up and Die” performance by an LSU team? That’s the lowest point total in a half in Final Four history.

Maryland 36, North Carolina 34 at halftime.

UPDATE: Maryland wins! The only non-#1-seed left in the women’s tournament advances to the title game.

Rick Boeckler — a resident of Maryland — sees his predicted national champ eliminated by his home state team, meaning he won’t break 400 points and finish second to himself on the all-time points list. But he’ll still win the pool unless Duke wins the national championship.

Women’s pool scenario refresher
Posted by on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at 7:03 pm

To review… if LSU beats Duke in tonight’s late game (9pm on ESPN), Rick Boeckler will clinch the 9th annual Living Room Times women’s pool. It would be his second championship; he also won the 2003 women’s pool.

If Duke beats LSU, Victoria Lopez will stay alive to win the pool and break the “Trojan Curse.” Lopez needs Duke to win the championship.

If North Carolina beats Maryland in the early game (7pm on ESPN) and Duke also wins, Boeckler will stay alive to finish second to himself on the all-time Living Room Times points list. He needs North Carolina to beat Duke in the final to achieve that honor.

If Kristy wins the championship, I have no idea who wins the pool. :)
