After yesterday’s storm, we woke up this morning to the beautiful sight of snow on the Superstitions:
Ted and Ginny say this is the most snow they’ve seen on the mountain in their 5+ years here. Specifically, they’ve never seen the snow level get low enough that it accumulates on the “flatiron” (the plateau-like portion at left) before. A close-up and more pics after the jump.

Brendan, that must be one of the greatest pictures you have ever taken . . . thanks for showing us what that looks like, cause by tghe time we will get to AZ, it will probably all have melted away. 8/
In other news, I officially used up your Xmas present this week - thanks again, also from my students, who because of the card were able to have nice coffee in class last week. 8)

Brendan, great pics. What’s the elevation of the flatiron? Also, any idea of total accumulation?

Thanks, Soren! I can’t really take too much credit for the pictures, though — it’s so beautiful, all you need is a camera, just point and shoot, no photographic talent required. :)
I added four more pics. Enjoy!

That is freaking awesome. Oh, to have to choose between climbing shoes and ice boots… :)
Now go take a picture from the top. :-P

Some beautiful shots. I wish I could have come out sooner to see the snow in person. Great capture of a unique moment. Thanks for sharing.
