You have to feel bad for Gurule’s students, they will be hearing about this USA Today article for the rest of the year. I wonder if 10yrs from now he will bring in a copy of the paper to show his first year students?
I think Gurule is an excellent teacher, and one who is very passionate about his work. He challenged me to be the best that I could be, and actually made me feel guilty for not going into criminal law. Personally, I’m impressed by all of his accomplishments, and in my experience, he doesn’t bring them up in class to brag, but rather as an introduction to the larger issue at hand, like funding for terrorism.
I ardently disagree. The majority of law professors are as accomplished as Gurule and somehow seem to find a way to enrich the classroom experience without tooting their own horn. I am not knocking Gurule, he is a fine professor. I just think it is obvious that he has a large ego. Maybe I am old-school, but I prefer humility.
