Next year our bet should be that the loser has to wear the winning school’s clothes to school for a day… and it has to be a weekday when the loser has class. :)
While we’re on color schemes, I think it’s worth noting that Coach Karl himself thinks the “powder” blue is so lame that he had the coaching staff wear navy blue polos on the sidelines. Seriously, it must be hard to feel–or at least play–like a man in pastels.
I visited UCLA when I was looking at colleges and hated the campus so much that I didn’t even bother to apply to the place. I’ve also heard from professors that taught at UCLA during their careers that they are not particularly undergrad friendly over there. Then there are the general difficulties of getting the classes you need…
Be that as it may, I found UCLA’s campus to be significantly worse than NYU’s — and given that NYU doesn’t have a campus…
Never make a bet like that with a USC fan. If you lose, you have to wear USC stuff. And if you win, you get nothing because half of USC’s fans would become UCLA fans the next day anyway.
Dane, I hate to defend UCLA, but you’re smoking crack if you think their campus is uber ugly. Any campus that has an inexpensive and delicious place to buy yummy cookies so close by can’t be all bad.
Besides, finding professors who are actually more interested in teaching than they are in their own research is nearly impossible; it’s definately not just a UCLA phenomenon.
That being said, I think UCLA’s campus is a pain in the ass because it’s like 10 miles long and no matter which way you walk, you’re going uphill. I mean, sure, all the trees and crazy liberal hippie protestor types are nice, but after awhile, I start to pine away for the gang violence at SC. ;) Yes, I’m still traumatized that someone held up Trojan Grounds.
USC was your third back up? Wow, I feel bad for you then, that means you got rejected by your first choice, second choice, and third choice before being rejected by USC, only to go to what would clearly be a last resort at UCLA. Glad to see you overcame the adversity and made it into law school though :-)
Becky, I didn’t say I thought UCLA’s campus was ugly, I said I hated it. parts of it are quite nice and picturesque and some look like shit holes kind of like USC’s campus. Really it was their student Union that almost made me vomit, the thing is like walking into hell’s version of a video arcade at Planet College. That is to say, it felt very uncomfortable. There were a lot of places on UCLA’s campus that just made my spine crawl. And several of them were places I knew that if I went there I would spend a considerable amount of time and I didn’t want to spend four years being made uncomfortable by my college.

Don’t feel so bad. I once had to wear a jersey from my third backup safety school eight years in a row. Hasn’t happened for the last seven though….

I know, I should have made him do the victory sign. I’m far too nice. :)

I still say you should have had him wear my Halloween costume. ;)

Regardless, UCLA totally sucked.

Becky - according to reports, you are WAY too young to be able to talk about walking uphill both ways to class …
Unlike Joe or myself …
Through the snowdrifts …
Under the burning sun …
(ya get the idea)
