Robbie’s 15 seconds of fame
Posted by on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 11:41 am

I’m in the New York Times again today — in the corrections section. Oddly, they made a new error in the correction, misspelling my name. But at least they cleared up the whole dog vs. fiancée issue:

An article in Business Day about Brendon Loy, the Notre Dame student who was one of the earliest to sound the alarm about the potential threat to New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina, misstated the name of Mr. Loy’s dog. It is Robbie, not Becky (which is his fiancée’s name).

Heh.

By the way, here’s a picture of me and my fiancée dog:

:)

Here are a couple more pictures:

Speaking of dogs, a lot of people are looking for Snowball.

Ouch! If I were Becky, I’d be burning every copy of the NYT that comes through the door!

    Brendan,

I saw your blog via Kaus’s link. Great page man, great info. Its great to get a perspective on the hurricane/hurricane coverage from a different source than the media.

  3. Sean Hickey Says:

As I started reading the retraction I didn’t understand why you cared. By the end it made sense. Your fiancÈe was probably pretty pissed.

    - Sean

Actually, she thought it was really funny. :) And they fixed it very quickly in the online version. I reached a night editor at the national desk and he was very apologetic, and took care of it right away. Too late for the print edition, alas.

Thank God they are looking for Snowball. That broke my heart!

And the WSJ’s Opinion Journal has picked it up as well: http://www.opinionjournal.com/best/

  7. Alasdair Says:

Brendan - admit it - you have TWO best friends, don’t you ?

  8. Mike Says:

Eh, I remember back when Brendan used to have the disclaimer in his “Friends you’ll see mentioned frequently box” to the tune of “yes, a person can have multiple best friends.” Of course, IIRC, it was in reference to Jen and Sean…

  9. Casey Says:

I knew Robbie would be famous one day….

  10. Dusty/USA Says:

Beautifully gorgeous handsome creature….. uh…the dog
