110 mph
Posted by on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 2:28 am

Hurricane Katrina now has maximum sustained winds of 110 mph, putting her on the threshold of Category 3. I’m going to bed now; by the time I wake up, I expect her to be a major hurricane.

It is indeed a Cat 3. Cat 4 by landfall is predicted. Hurricane Watch posted for the Big Easy & points east and west thereof. No mandatory Evacuation orders yet ~ though Jim Cantore :) implies that Biloxi MS is fixin’ to do one.

Re New Orleans, at this time the Weather Channel, institutionally, has NOT gone to its Running Around With Hair On Fire mode. I think they are Soft-pedalling the Atlantis Syndrome. Mustn’t be seen as Alarmist, right? :| The aforesaid Cantore, however, reporting from the sunny beach at Biloxi, appears Concerned. Eyeballs show signs of beginning to Bulge. Keeps mentioning prospect of Highway conversion to All One Way, Out. Suggests that people Voluntarily hauling ass out of Biloxi head East ~ not West, toward New Orleans.

    This looks like Business.
