HARTFORD, Conn. — A major power outage in downtown Hartford affected local office buildings and prompted Hartford Hospital to divert patients to nearby hospitals, NBC 30 reported.
The main feed to the central business district gave way, causing the outage at the hospital, the main office towers downtown and some of the state office buildings, said Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez.
The power failure occurred at about 3 pm, so hopefully my former colleagues at CTSOTS got some free time off. Even if the office wasn’t in the dark (more so than Usual I mean :), it’s only prudent to go home as a Precautionary Measure. :) Yes, the Business of Connecticut is Government. :) The other local TV station says that the Legislative Office Building (aka the LOB and the Taj Mahal :) shut down, a very positive development for the whole citizenry. :)
WFSB also reports that Hartford Hospital “was running on back up generators, so patient care is not being effected.” This is both puzzling & shocking, and if they didn’t resume Effecting patient care PDQ there should be numerous overlapping investigations. ;>
Channel 3’s 6 pm broadcast said when the juice went off all the Fire alarms started shrieking all at once, causing the city Fire Department to briefly Go Nuts until they figured out what the Deal was. :)
