UB to the Big Dance?

Could the University at Buffalo men’s basketball team, which was 5-23 two years ago and has never even been to the NIT, be worthy of an NCAA Tournament bid? These bracketologists think so, giving the Bulls a #12 seed in the wake of their win at Fresno State on Bracket Buster Saturday. (Alas, this bracketologist disagrees.)

The Buffalo News says the UB administration needs to make more noise about the team’s at-large credentials. Of course, the Bulls could settle the issue by winning the MAC Tournament next month.

Speaking of college hoops and mid-major conference teams, I just discovered a great blog called The Mid-Majority that I’ll be checking frequently between now and Selection Sunday. Yoni Cohen’s site is great, too.

Brendan, haven’t you learned by now to assume that it can’t possibly happen if the Buffalo News supports the possibility? :) I would assume that by now Becky would have warned you about the completely reasonable presumption that that hideous paper is wrong until proven correct…

How are you leaving out Indiana basketball? Obviously an elite program such as Indiana is worthy of an NCAA bid with an impressive 12-11 record.

I’ll throw a chair at the NCAA committee if they let in Indiana over Texas Tech.

HOW MANY FINAL FOURS DID YOU GO TO IN 2002 BOBBY?? That’s what I thought. I am professional, you are nothing…
