Electoral College Contest early, early, early results

Not much to report so far. Everyone starts at 538… and most people are still there:

Updates
Posted by on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 7:46 pm

Mongiardo (D) by 6% in KY with 48% reporting.

Daniels (D) for IN governor by 9%, with 16% reporting. Chocola for Congress by 21%, with 19% reporting.

West Virginia to Bush
Posted by on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 7:39 pm

Apparently not even close; they gave it to him right away.

They’re saying they don’t have enough information yet to call Virginia and the Carolinas, but the early raw numbers look awfully lopsided. I wonder if CNN is holding off on “calling” them until 8:00, so the numbers won’t look too lopsided? (It’s 39-3 Bush right now.)

Stunning Bunning
Posted by on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 7:22 pm

Mongiardo (D) is defeating incumbent Bunning (R) in Kentucky, 55% to 45%, with 30% of the precincts reporting, according to CNN.

Results here.

Not like that’s a surprise.

First states called
Posted by on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 7:00 pm

Bush wins Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia. Kerry wins Vermont. Not enough information yet in Virginia and South Carolina (which seems like good news for Kerry, though Bush will undoubtedly win them).

Chocola-Donnelly race extremely close (NOT!)
Posted by on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 6:47 pm

With 71% of the precincts reporting in Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District, the House race is — surprisingly — very, very close:

Chris Chocola (R) 8,026
Joe Donnelly (D) 8,002

(according to the local CBS affiliate)

NEVERMIND: That must have been a mistake, because now the same CBS afilliate is saying there are only 3% of the precincts reporting. I guess I should have known better than to trust CBS. :)

The governor’s race looks close so far, with a slight edge to the Democrat, Kernan.

UPDATE: Chocola leads, 60% to 38%, with 5% reporting. D’oh.

Statewide, Daniels now leads Kernan, 52% to 47%, with 6% reporting.

Indiana results here.

Cancelling each other out
Posted by on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 5:59 pm

Chris, Dmytro and I got back from the polls about a half hour ago. Chris voted for Bush; I voted for Kerry; Dmytro voted for Nader (writing him in).

So basically, we cancelled each other out and we might as well have just stayed home. :)

Here are some photos from outside the polling place. And here’s another look at my presidential vote:

Polls about to close here
Posted by on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 5:53 pm

God, I love the CNN election music.

They’ve confirmed that they won’t call the winner of a state until all the state’s polls have closed. So although most of the polls in Indiana and Kentucky — including here in South Bend — close in just a few minutes, we’re still just over an hour away from the first state “calls.”

Highest turnout in 40 years?

So says Paul Begala on CNN, if the pace doesn’t slacken as the evening wears on. Here’s the history.

Phorget phraud in Philly: corruption in CT!

This must never Again happen Again, again! (See especially the 4th comment. :)

Leanna & I voted about 45 minutes ago.

“Street?”
“Hartford Avenue.”
“Number?”
“28.”
“Name?”
“Loy, L-O-Y. T. Jos….”
Loy, Brendan Loomer, yes, there it is…” [begins to cross off name]
“NONONO! Wait….”

:)

(Polls open til 8 pm….what’s the flying time?….NONONO :)

See? I rest my case. / The relatively-recent Cancellation from Indiana couldn’t make it through the (undoubtedly clogged) system in time, that’s all.

FRAUUUUUD!!! :)

Not exactly a record-setting turnout in St. Joseph County, IN. :)
