Stewart Mandel says, “There’s a clause in the BCS that says they can override the bowls’ selections if it’s in the ‘best interest’ of college football.”
Could there ever be a better occasion to use this clause than if, as seems likely, undefeated Utah and undefeated Auburn are picked to play in diffferent bowls, both of them meaningless and utterly uninteresting (like, say, Utah vs. Boston College and Auburn vs. Virginia Tech)?
Have some guts, BCS! Pull the trigger! Show those bowl bullies who’s boss! Give us Tigers vs. Utes, or give us death! Well, okay, maybe not death…
P.S. I’m assuming this is the clause Mandel is referring to: “At the conclusion of these procedures, the pairings established by the BCS bowls may be adjusted by the BCS, in consultation with the BCS bowls and ABC, in the interest of creating the most exciting and interesting postseason matchups possible.”

Here’s what I wish we could see
USC vs Oklahoma
Auburn vs Utah
Cal vs Texas
Louisville vs Boise State
It would be great.
