Live from Mesa…

For the first time ever, I’m broadcasting audio over the Internet!! I’ve got a Shoutcast server running. I won’t leave it on all night, of course — I’ll be using it tomorrow evening for the Christmas ceremony; I’m just testing it now — but if you click here soon after I post this, you might be lucky enough to hear the extremely exciting sound of me typing on my keyboard. :)

DO ME A FAVOR: Hey, loyal BrendanLoy.com readers, would you mind clicking here and then leaving a comment to let me know if the audio stream is working for you? I’m going to leave it running all night, playing the same song over and over, in hopes that someone will test it for me. :) It seems to be working on my end, but it’s hard to be sure…

Post not from cell phone
Posted by on Thursday, November 27, 2003 at 10:40 am

Okay, so I lied. In between helping Mrs. Zak set the table and participating in other Thanksgiving tasks and festivities, I may have a bit of time for non-Moblog posting from the Zaks’ house. At least, I do right now. So, a few miscellaneous notes…

The UConn men lost to Georgia Tech yesterday in a Preseason NIT stunner. So much (for now) for UConn’s double-#1 ranking. Too bad for the Huskies… but hopefully it will be the beginning of a successful sports weekend for Georgia Tech. :)

Today’s Thanksgiving football action features Packers vs. Lions (starting now), Dolphins vs. Cowboys (4:00 PM Eastern), and Mississippi vs. Mississippi State in the “Egg Bowl” (7:30 PM Eastern).

The latter has no direct implications for USC, but it does impact LSU — a Mississippi State win would guarantee LSU the SEC West championship even if they lose tomorrow to Arkansas, whereas a Mississippi win would keep the pressure on. So, if you think the Tigers are more likely to wilt under pressure, root for Mississippi, but if you think they’re more likely to have a letdown if the conference is already decided, root for Mississippi State. Personally, I choose the latter. But of course, it probably won’t happen. Mississippi is 8-3; Mississippi State is 2-9.

In other football crap, the Newington High football team played Wethersfield this morning. The game is undoubtedly over by now, but I don’t know the result yet. I’ll post it when I do, of course. The Indians haven’t beaten the Eagles in a decade, but Wethersfield was exceptionally weak this year, so you never know…

Whoa! I just got a CNN Breaking News alert on my cell phone. I wonder what it could be… with courts closed, Congress not in session, etc., you don’t expect much news to break on a holiday… let’s see… aha! “President Bush pays surprise visit to U.S. troops in Iraq.” Aww, how cute… how charming… how blatantly politically manipulative… Karl Rove, you’re an evil genius… :)

Gobble gobble

I just cleaned the litter box, and there was one particular piece of cat crap that looked sort of like a turkey. Now if that doesn’t put you in the holiday spirit, I don’t know what will. :)

But seriously, Happy Thanksgiving!

Kristy has some Thanksgiving thoughts over on the SHA girl blog. Hopefully she and V will post some pictures of their Thanksgiving together… hint, hint!

Becky and I are off to her parents’ house now, so barring CNN breaking-news alerts (which seem unlikely on Turkey Day), any blogging for the rest of the day will probably be in the form of cell-phone posts.
