Southerly Northern lights?

The anticipated coronal mass ejection hit Earth at around 3:00 AM Eastern, and 12 hours later, the resulting geomagnetic storm is still strengthening. The planetary K-index has reached a level of 8, meaning the ongoing storm is now “severe.” If this keeps up, aurorae may be visible tonight even from low latitudes. “Electronic gremlins” spook White House

A false positive on the NORAD radar screens — some sort of “electronic gremlins,” according to a spokesman — caused a brief evacuation of the White House this morning.
