Okay, so I lied. In between helping Mrs. Zak set the table and participating in other Thanksgiving tasks and festivities, I may have a bit of time for non-Moblog posting from the Zaks’ house. At least, I do right now. So, a few miscellaneous notes…
The UConn men lost to Georgia Tech yesterday in a Preseason NIT stunner. So much (for now) for UConn’s double-#1 ranking. Too bad for the Huskies… but hopefully it will be the beginning of a successful sports weekend for Georgia Tech. :)
Today’s Thanksgiving football action features Packers vs. Lions (starting now), Dolphins vs. Cowboys (4:00 PM Eastern), and Mississippi vs. Mississippi State in the “Egg Bowl” (7:30 PM Eastern).
The latter has no direct implications for USC, but it does impact LSU — a Mississippi State win would guarantee LSU the SEC West championship even if they lose tomorrow to Arkansas, whereas a Mississippi win would keep the pressure on. So, if you think the Tigers are more likely to wilt under pressure, root for Mississippi, but if you think they’re more likely to have a letdown if the conference is already decided, root for Mississippi State. Personally, I choose the latter. But of course, it probably won’t happen. Mississippi is 8-3; Mississippi State is 2-9.
In other football crap, the Newington High football team played Wethersfield this morning. The game is undoubtedly over by now, but I don’t know the result yet. I’ll post it when I do, of course. The Indians haven’t beaten the Eagles in a decade, but Wethersfield was exceptionally weak this year, so you never know…
Whoa! I just got a CNN Breaking News alert on my cell phone. I wonder what it could be… with courts closed, Congress not in session, etc., you don’t expect much news to break on a holiday… let’s see… aha! “President Bush pays surprise visit to U.S. troops in Iraq.” Aww, how cute… how charming… how blatantly politically manipulative… Karl Rove, you’re an evil genius… :)

So long as pictures do not accompany scatological postings I’m not worried.

“Blatantly political manipulative”? If you think flying 21 straight hours, going to Iraq, boosting the troops, and coming right back, all under the cloak of secrecy, is pure politics, then in my opinion, that kind of politics is to be highly commended.
I give thanks this Turkey Day for the freedom to use, misuse, and overuse commas without Nazi English teachers rapping my wrists. :-)
