Becky and I came to ASU’s campus this morning because she thought she had class. Turns out class was cancelled, so we got out of bed for no reason. :( Oh well… at least I got a mini-tour of her grad school. :)

Cubs win! Cubs win! It’s just too bad Harry Caray didn’t live to see it. On to the NLCS… and we’ll root, root, root for the Cubbies, if they don’t win it’s a shame… :)

Kerry Wood and the Cubs are six outs away now from their first postseason series win since 1908! It’s Chicago 4, Atlanta 1. “Luck be a Cubbie tonight.”

“There are thousands of Cubs fans at Turner Field tonight. They have waited 95 years for a celebration.” –Fox announcer
“Okay, then most of them are dead.” –Becky
Heh. Well, those dead fans may have something to cheer about soon. The Cubs lead, 4-0, in the sixth inning — they’re 12 outs away from the National League Championship Series!

And now, at long last, I give you the first full-fledged, high-quality digital pictures of Becky’s new kittens, Sasha and Butter:

Sasha, left, and Butter, right, look through the glass sliding door of Becky’s porch.

Sasha explores the inside of a Diet Pepsi box. Awww.

Now they’re a trio: Butter, left; Sasha, in the box; and Toby, right.
And that’s just a sample. Here are some more kitty pics…

“The Red Sox have come back from the dead!” declared ESPN’s John Miller at the conclusion of today’s 5-4 win — and so they have, coming from behind for the second straight day to force a decisive Game 5 in a series in which they had seemed doomed 48 hours ago!
The series score is A’s 2, Sox 2, and that means it’s time to “cowboy up” all the way back to Oakland. As I said yesterday, I like our chances with Martinez on the mound; I find it hard to believe that Boston will lose two games that Pedro started in the same series. But we shall see. If Boston loses tomorrow, no one will remember these remarkable last two games as Curse-breakers; they will be considered nothing more than cruel “teasing” before the ultimate heartbreak. But if the Sox win, there will be an awful lot of talk about whether the unluckiest team in the 20th century has become lucky in the 21st.
As for the Sox’ superstitions — of which there are plenty, not just the infamous Curse but also a bunch of positive ones — Miller had this to say after the game: “Is it the haircut? Is it the Rally Karaoke Guy? Is it Cowboying up? Or are they just, maybe, good?”
Heh. Well, frankly, I don’t know, and I don’t care. As long as they win. All I can say is: GO RED SOX!!!

Dick Cheney isn’t at an “undisclosed location” — he’s sitting on the visitor’s bench at Fenway Park in Boston, managing the Oakland A’s!
Heh. :) Okay, okay, so that’s not really the vice president — it’s Oakland manager Ken Macha. But he kinda looks like Cheney, doesn’t he?
Macha, by the way, must be feeling about as nervous as a Halliburton executive watching a burning Iraqi oil field at the moment, because his A’s just lost a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eights, and now trail the Red Sox, 5-4, in the top of the ninth! Can Boston score two consecutive come-from-behind victories? Go Sox!!!
