The aerial views of New York City that I saw yesterday afternoon, taking off from LaGuardia en route to Philadelphia, were downright incredible.

Remind me to fly out of LaGuardia more often! The airborne sightseeing opportunities are totally worth it. I got a bunch more great pictures. Check ‘em out:

Three cheers for the Trojans and the Red Sox, the conquering heroes who made today a wonderful sports day for me!

The Sox’ season-extending, extra-inning win over Oakland was bizarre and wonderful, what with the unusual controversial calls, the baserunning blunders, and of course the walk-off home run by Trot Nixon to win the game in the eleventh.

You gotta love playoff baseball. And you gotta wonder, after all those twists of fate that seemed to go Boston’s way tonight, whether the Curse of the Bambino has somehow been transferred from the Sox to the A’s. :) I suppose that’s too much to hope, but a victory in this series isn’t, methinks, if the Sox can pull off another win tomorrow. I like our chances in a Game 5, even though it would be at Oakland; I just can’t see Boston losing two games with Pedro Martinez on the mound in the same series.

As for the Trojans, I had great fun watching them first-hand at Sun Devil Stadium. Although I must say, it was (pardon the expression) hot as hell — but thanks to sunscreen, water and soda, ice and evaporative cooling, and frequent shade breaks, Becky and I survived. And so did the Trojans in the game, after an early scare. USC 37, Arizona State 17 was the final, a nice bounce-back victory after last week’s heartbreaker against Cal.
