My last day
Posted by on Monday, October 27, 2003 at 11:19 pm

Tomorrow is my last day working at Jobs & the City. Tomorrow night or Wednesday morning, I head back to Connecticut, and then on Nov. 11, I’m off to Phoenix. Anyway… tomorrow I’ll be saying farewell to my friends at work. I’ll miss you guys!

From left: Tim McDonough, Sara Asselin, me, and Scott Lucy.

I’ll also miss the gorgeous view of Midtown from the 13th-floor loft where we work. Today, the scene was particularly dramatic as heavy rain caused the Empire State Building to seemingly disappear, then reappear a few minutes later:

Here’s what the view looks like on clearer days. The first picture is in the morning, the second in the afternoon just before sunset.

Well you’re being Contrarian as usual: I think I saw somewhere that the premiere of “Skin” was a big Flop, audience-share-wise. / I haven’t seen it so I dunno. In honor of Andrew (to whom Hi :) I recently tried to watch an episode (rerun I guess) of “The OC”. I failed. Couldn’t stand it. Switched to The Sci Fi Channel. Now THAT’s Entertainment.

“(I have a thing for gorgeous blue-eyed blondes, in case anyone hadn’t noticed. :)” // Well, good Taste & good Eye, granted; but Ohhh, brother! Wotta *Pander Bear*!! :) Kiss kiss kiss too ra lye addy, Kiss kiss kiss too ra lye ayyyyy….” At long last, Senator, have you no sense of decency?… :)

Pfui. Obviously I meant to put the above Comment on the “Skin Is In” post & screwed up. Bah. Sorry.

But my Comment on THIS post is: A sad parting. / But you have gained good experience there. Onward & Upward. / Hope Trilogy Tuesday makes it all worthwhile NONONONONO jessssss’ kiddin’…damn, I dunno where I get this Mean streak. (Shaddup. Yer Nana was a fine woman anyway. :) I think I’ll run against Putin next time. (CNN, Muscovite man-on-street [really]: “Russia *needs* a cruel man to be in charge…”)

But I’m not totally Incorrigible. (Never been In Corregidor either but nevermind about that now…) In the above misplaced Comment I withheld — had typed, then deleted — a certain Martin Kellog-era blonde blue-eyed archival citation & documentary paraphrase. I would never embarrass you publicly, y’see. :) It Is Wrong, That’s For Sure. :) All I can say is, Go Eastern! / waw haw haw haw

I have been asked to inform you that you are completely insane to willfully decide to take a cross country bus trip over other modes of available transportation that are in a similar price range as said bus trip.

  5. Andrew Says:

Dane, it’s clear he likes the smell.

    What smell?

The smell of the fat hairy guy sitting two rows in front of you. Yes, he reeks that bad.

That weird lady across the aisle from you won’t shut up either, always talking entirely too loud on her cell phone, and her laughs are just awful. In fact, you look closer and now suspect that she isn’t even talking to anybody, she’s just holding up a dead cell phone.

And then there’s the unkempt black guy behind you trying to convert everyone in the back of the bus to Jesus.

    Ahhhhh, life on the Greyhound.
