I’m standing on almost exactly the spot where the cameraman who shot the famous video of the first plane hitting the WTC was standing on 9/11, at the corner of Church and Lispenard. The towers filled about half of the sky that you see here.

The National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Isabel, now approaching Category Five status with 150 mile-per-hour sustained winds, “has a textbook appearance on visible and infrared satellite images.” They’re right. Check this action out:
This storm could be a serious problem for someplace along the East Coast late next week. Stay tuned, as they say.

The public is lining up to ring this memorial bell in front of St. Peter’s church; I just rang it a minute ago. Couldn’t audio post it, but I did audio record it with my digital camera, and I’ll post that file later tonight. Anyway, very moving.

The bells are ringing now, to mark the moment of the first tower’s collapse. Here’s another picture that I took this morning at Ground Zero.

Alas, it looks like my Internet connection at home failed, so the webcam isn’t working. :(
