Newly appointed BrendanLoy.com Washington Bureau Chief Dane Lindberg provides us with the following report:
Short update from the Washington DC area. . . We have no power. . . I will have to keep this short (I’m not sure how many days the batteries on my laptop will need to last). It was quite blustery last night, and there is significant damage to power lines and trees. And unlike Brendan I could not go into work today. . . something about Old Town Alexandria being flooded (10 feet above the river; I’ll [send] Brendan a picture some time soon) and most of the GW parkway being shut down. Judging by the damage to power polls and the like I have a feeling that we will be without power in this area fro quite some time. That’s all for now. . . Time to shut down the computer for tomorrow’s ten minutes :)
Thanks for the update, Dane!

“…update from the Washington DC area… We have no power…”
>> That is a real hardship. But, it least this time it’s egalitarian: for once the *Republicans* lack *power*, too. :)
“…not sure how many days the batteries on my laptop will need to last…That’s all for now…Time to shut down the computer for tomorrow’s ten minutes.”
>> Geez! It’s like Apollo 13, coming home! / Thanks Dane. Hang in there. (Try to permanently divert some of that unwarranted Republican power, would ya? :)

Oh, it’s not all that bad, I mean we are just without power, it is not like we need to get through space or anything. . . Although we are still without power here, many locations around are coming back online. Most of the downed power polls and trees have now been cleared from the roadways, although there are still some areas that a bit treacherous and we are still under a water boiling alert for a few more days. I’m going to check to see if how my camera batteries are doing—I might be able to get Brendan some shots of mangled power polls before they are fixed. Well, that’s all for now, I’m going to try and get to the Apple store tomorrow and to try and recharge the lap top a little.
