As reported earlier, 5:51 AM EDT this morning was the time of the closest encounter between Earth and Mars. But according to this article, the closest encounter between New York City and Mars was at 1:46 AM Eastern time.
Yup, someone did the math on that. Nope, it wasn’t me. :) (Though I surely would have, if I had the necessary data and expertise. Heh.)

YAAAY! :) If I understand the Table right, LA gets closer to Mars than NYC does. (Now why do I think of NYC as more Martian, to LA’s neo-Venusian?) But Tahiti gets the closest. / What about Dublin? (Sean V.: “Never mind about Dublin.” :)
