Mars details
Posted by on Monday, August 25, 2003 at 6:15 pm

When Earth and Mars pass within 34.65 million miles of one another at 5:51 AM Wednesday morning, it will be the closest together the two planets have been since Sept. 12, 57,617 B.C., according to CNN.

Interestingly enough, they’ll be this close again in “only” 284 years — almost to the day — on Aug. 28, 2287.

UPDATE: Here’s a bunch of Mars-related stuff from Space.com. And if you’re looking for a Mars-gazing event in your area, click here.
