Today was the hottest August day in Phoenix history, with the high temperature reaching 116 degrees, according to The Weather Channel. I hope Becky’s air conditioner is working well.
As weather records go, though, Phoenix’s day was nothing compared to London’s, where the temperature of 100 degrees was the highest ever recorded in the U.K.

That’s it? Only 116? I thought for sure Phoenix gets hotter than that on a regular basis. Hmmm….

On the other hand, I don’t think most of us realize how miserable 100 degrees is in a place like London. I remember sweltering in my room at Cambridge when temperatures went above 70; those buildings are old and are built to retain heat. I have much sympathy for the poor Englishmen, many of whom probably work in offices without ACs. (Seriously, why would England have ACs? You’re lucky if it gets that hot maybe a few days in the summer!)

If only the Brits would use deoderant, the suffering would be minimized….!

The Brits do use deoderant. You’re thinking of the French!
